26000 YEARS AGO

New Zealand is still a single island. Lake Taupo is a mountainous volcano yet erupted and blew a hole in the North Island the size of Singapore. Further south, a vast body of glacial water is being trapped deep underground as the ice age retreats.

Earlier this century, a deep artesian bore, at a secret location somewhere in this landscape, disturbed the slumber of a Cro-Magnon era glacial lake deep below foot hills of the Southern Alps in New Zealand. For a distiller, it is an incredible source of water — like striking crystalline-gold. In fact, the 26000 team were so excited that they had it carbon dated, and FDA approved, at 26,000 years old. They harvest the water in batch-only amounts, then hand-craft it to fashion an exquisite distilled grain vodka of exceptional quality.

It’s history? When the last ice age ended, huge glaciers across New Zealand melted and seeped through the bedrock to become trapped deep below the surface of the earth. For 260 centuries that water has been in a state of constant natural cleansing - hidden away and protected from any human intervention at all. No chlorine. No pesticides. No algae. No impurities. No light.

Originally created for a select group of the local folk in New Zealand - but now shared world-wide - the Crystalline 26000 Vodka is clean, strong, soft and energising, with an impatient lingering aftertaste. The small Nelson-based team’s creation was based on the theory that the quality of the water dictates the quality of the vodka.

You can’t help but pay particular attention to the transparent inner walls of the crystal bottle. There are no two identical bottles, and the exquisite icy shades of 26000 give each bottle its own character and personality.

From their private-label vodka distillery based in Nelson, New Zealand, 26000 also crafts small-batch, signature blends with select collaboration partners around the world. The vodka blends are perfect for individual customers who want to collaborate on a signature-series range – through to corporate or hospitality customers who want to create a unique flavour profile. Each batch is uniquely crafted by their Master-Distiller, to your taste. From the purest traditional Vodka, to bespoke-blends with natural infusions or botanicals - a 26,000 private label collaboration is something else entirely.

The team doesn’t claim their vodka to be something sacred, but they operate honestly and don’t interfere with nature’s way of things. They expect the same from their suppliers, which is why 26000 only uses natural grains that have not been genetically altered or modified. That natural and pure grain structure gives the vodka a unique, super-soft and full-of-grain taste.
