The Karangahape Road outpost has been the go-to for cakes for years now and has recently opened a bakery style experience on Sundays. The Sunday openings were originally set for a limited time in a trial-type lead up to owner Jordan Rondell (aka The Caker) opening an LA store. But the unprecedented success is likely to see the store stay open until at least the end of the year.
“It’s been absolutely overwhelming and amazing,” says Jordan. “Initially we were just going to test it for 4 weeks, but the response has blown us away so we will be continuing it until Christmas and potentially into the new year too.”
Treat yourself to mini cakes and slices with some of the Caker’s most popular creations and the addition of very special ‘Sunday-only’ flavours containing unusual ingredients such as herbs, black pepper and champagne. The takeaway only option is open from 10-2pm, but be warned, the queues are quickly snaking out the door and they often sell out before closing time.
