Starship's ‘Bake it Better’
Starship hospital is asking Kiwi’s to get behind them in their ‘Bake it Better for Starship’ campaign, running for the month of July. Starship aims to provide patients with the best possible care, so, in light of this, all Bake it Better donations will go towards investing in critical areas including new equipment, training and research. People of all ages are getting involved in Bake it Better including seven-year-old Caitlin McFadden. Caitlin is baking her signature blueberry muffins, so that she can give back to the hospital that saved her younger sister's life not once, but three times.
New Zealand’s national children’s hospital manages over 130,000 patients each year. The incredible staff and volunteers provide family-centred care to children and young people throughout New Zealand. Your involvement in Bake it Better will provide children with the support and equipment they desperately require, to help them live strong and healthy lives.
Every day a family is in need of Starship, and this month is your chance to lend a hand. Whisks at the ready, it's time to whip up something delicious and get fundraising!
Blind Foundation Guide Dogs' ‘Bikkie Day’
Blind Foundation is encouraging people to bake and sell puppy-shaped bikkies, on Friday 26th July, to raise funds and support for the guide dogs. So, get your puppy shaped cookie cutters ready and start baking your favourite bikkies! Bikkie Day funds will go towards the breeding and training of guide dogs, so that they are able to keep providing blind, or low-vision people with freedom and independence.
The Blind Foundation Guide Dogs work hard to give a new sense of freedom to visually-impaired Kiwis. The guide dogs are raised and trained to ensure they will assist their owners in moving around safely and confidently. These four-legged helpers carry a huge responsibility, navigating hazardous life-or-death situations.
Taking part in Bikkie Day is a simple, and rewarding way, that we can come together to help the dogs who act as 'the eyes' for many New Zealanders. Whether your speciality is baking, selling, or eating moreish bikkies, get behind the Blind Foundation Guide dogs and show your support for these clever pups.
SPCA Cupcake Day
On Monday 5th August SPCA will be holding their annual Cupcake Day, where Kiwis are encouraged to bake, sell and raise money for animals in need. All proceeds from Cupcake Day will go towards the costs associated with rescuing abused, neglected and injured animals. This will ensure that the SPCA can continue to work towards finding precious creatures their forever homes. Want to play your part this Cupcake Day? All you need to do is register, bake, raise and bank the funds.
Over 41,000 animals a year are neglected, abused and left looking for shelter and love at the SPCA. By baking a batch of cupcakes you have the power to help these helpless creatures live happy and healthy lives.
Get on board, start your fundraising and help the animals who need it most. And remember, baking for a good cause will make the cupcakes taste even sweeter.
