Christmas D.I.Ys: Fresh Floral Wreath
Photography by Manja Wachsmuth, Rose Hope and Sarah Firmston.
In our latest issue, Rose and Sarah of crushes.co.nz share their festive decorating tips. Here's their step-by-step guide to creating a simple and fragrant Christmas wreath.
We decided that the 'Traditional Christmas' needed a re-vamp, so we turned to the conventional wreath and designed a way to make it more functional and modern! We turned it into a fresh floral wreath that can sit around a serving bowl to create an original table centrepiece.
We used rosemary and berries, but you could use any flora and fauna!
You will need;
- An oasis foam base (ours is from Spotlight)
- Your plants of choice
Simply stick your plants into the foam base, starting from the top. Do so at an angle, ensuring less chance to seeing through to the oasis below.
Once the top is completed, fill out the sides, making it as voluminous as you desire.
Then plant your other flowers - ours looks very wintery, but you could make it look really bright and fun with some wildflowers. Have fun with it!
To get the most wear out of your wreath, water regularly - these foam boards will do the rest of the work.
Enjoy!
