With the help of local chefs and producers, Kelmarna Organic Community Gardens are holding another fundraiser, offering beautiful food and fascinating workshops in a beautiful setting.
After their Spring festival was such a success, Kelmarna Community Gardens and Organic Farm are hosting another fundraiser to support the urban oasis.
Taking place on Sunday April 24th, there'll be workshops, delicious food from Orphans Kitchen, Little Bird Organics and Bread & Butter Bakery, live music, a kids zone, raffles, organic produce from the gardens. The Organic Mechanic, Ahi-Ka Tonics, Millers Coffee, Nice Blocks are also on board serving up their products, with all proceeds going back to the gardens.
Hosted by local experts, workshops will include beekeeping, composting, propogating flowers, foraging and keeping urban chickens.
If you haven't visited the Kelmarna Organic Gardens and City Farm, it's comprised of four and a half acres of green pastures and gardens that's always open to the public. It's a place of education and demonstration on sustainable principles and has an important role as a place of therapy for those who need it. With changes in funding, the gardens now need the support of the community to stay open and continue serving their neighbourhood.
So please come along on the 24th April - Bring your kids, your neighbours and an empty stomach and come and find out what's so special about Kelmarna.
To find out more about the special role of the gardens, visit kelmarnagardens.nz or keep updated over on their Facebook page. You can read our story about Kelmarna's last festival here. The Kelmarna Gardens are located at 12 Hukanui Crescent in Ponsonby, Auckland.
