2. Hippopotamus at the QT Museum Hotel, Wellington
Quirky, expressive and absolutely delightful, the QT Museum Hotel remains one of our favourite spots in the capital. The gorgeously plush interior and delicious high tea menu makes Hippopotamus one of the city's must-visit locations.
3. Harbourside, Auckland
Sitting proudly on Auckland's waterfront and boasting one of the city's best vistas is Harbourside. Offering spectacular balcony views and an equally impressive menu, Harbourside's classic high tea is available every Saturday and Sunday. Start with a flute of Mumm Champagne and watch the day melt away.
4. Mona Vale, Christchurch
Few do high tea better than Canterbury's Mona Vale. Boasting a menu that includes more than six different high tea offerings, be sure to book well in advance to avoid the disappointment of missing out. Our pick? The Boutique High Tea menu offers a range of sweet and savoury treats paired with a variety of Dilmah teas and Chandon Brut Rosé.
5. Hotel DeBrett, Auckland
Auckland's beloved Hotel De Brett remains one of our favourite high tea spots. Offering both champagne cocktails, a flute of Cloudy Bay Pelorus and a plentiful tea menu, the very thought of an afternoon of Coronation Chicken Sandwiches and Pink Pavlova with Vanilla Crème and Kiwifruit, has us positively salivating.
6. True Food and Yoga, Auckland
A newcomer in the high tea game, we're big fans of Kelly and Nic Watt's True Food and Yoga. With a wholesome and predominantly wholefoods menu on offer, we suggest you spoil Mum with a yoga class beforehand, work up a sweat and an appetite.
7. Eichardt's, Queenstown
While this breathtaking culinary institution needs no introduction, let it be known that their high tea offering is just as glamorous as you might expect. Spoil Mum with a decadent high tea or consider a long lunch at The Grille, Eichardt's renowned restaurant. Each guest will be greeted with bubbly on arrival.
