Drop of the Day - Neudorf Rosie's Block Chardonnay
Plating up our zesty, herbalicious Roast Chicken on Lemon and Oregano Potatoes? Reach into the fridge for its perfect suitor, the Neudorf Rosie’s Block Chardonnay.
The Rosie’s Block Chardonnay is a textural, flowing wine which glides across the palate, bringing a sense of completeness as every note is embraced to be part of a rich whole.
There is the expected tension, but some generous stonefruit (not so generous as to be tiresome; just enough to soothe and intrigue). There are mineral notes and a welcome refreshing note at the finish, with oak simply an echo in the background, not overstepping the mark at all. It’s complex but understandable – a wine that will leave you smacking your lips together and pouring another glass to enjoy with roast chicken smothered in lemon and olive oil, or delicious grilled flounder, or perhaps some sweet diamond clams tossed through linguine. Masterful.
Neudorf vineyard is based in Nelson on the ancient gravelly clays of the Moutere Hills – ideal terrain for producing world-class chardonnay, pinot noir and aromatics.
