Support local in Newmarket at L’affare
The coffee's not the only thing that keeps people coming back to L’affare’s Newmarket café. Find out why people love this local eatery.
As practitioners of the art of coffee roasting since 1990, it’s safe to say L’affare know their stuff. L’affare’s Newmarket café, also the home of the Auckland-based wholesale coffee sales, technical and marketing team, has just turned six years old.
Within the café you will find the roastery and bean store, where you can purchase freshly roasted coffee to take home, along with their range of premium home coffee equipment: Rocket Espresso Milano machines, Rocket and Baratza grinders, pour-over brewers and kettles; you name it, they have it. There are also equipment technicians working on-site who can help spruce up your coffee machine and provide expert advice for novice coffee makers.
Head Chef Luke Adams keeps the seasonal menu fresh and exciting, and there are some new dishes on the way as we head into the colder months. Think rose harissa pappardelle, zhoosh-ed up marmite on toast with avocado, and a wild rice bowl, served with either glazed salmon or burnt pork belly ends, a poached egg and house-made crispy garlic sesame oil. Regulars will be pleased to hear that their favourite menu items will still remain - the café is known for its avocado on toast with chilli, lime and pistachio, black rice porridge with coconut yoghurt and mango, and the Newmarket-famous fried chicken and waffles served with bourbon syrup and sour cream.
Along with many in our prized hospitality industry, L’affare Newmarket continues to brave the challenges of the past 2 years - the very real struggle to fill the cafe due to their regulars’ working-from-home practices and, more recently, maintaining their full food proposition while supporting their team through isolation requirements. Now the city is somewhat returning to normalcy, it is relief to see some buzz around the local area, and the seats beginning to fill up once again.
This is a café that can’t wait to welcome their customers back again.
