Welly Gets its first Taste of the Boutique Wine Festival

After a literal non-event in 2020 due to Covid, The Boutique Wine Festival is back for 2021 and now Wellington gets its first chance to sample some of the best boutique wines from around the country.
The team at Craft’d Events, a bunch of women who have been in the events industry since before ‘digital’ was even a thing, have taken hold of the reins for 2021 and now the Boutique Wine Festival is back – and it has a new sibling, the Welly Boutique Wine Festival.
The focus of the Boutique Wine Festivals is to singularly promote, support and showcase New Zealand’s small wine producers, providing an experiential platform for them to share their products, their innovation and genuine passion, face-to-face with the festival attendees.
The Boutique Wine Festival is one New Zealand’s original wine festivals, beginning in Auckland back in 2013. After eight years, the mission of the festivals remains the same, however, the offerings, operation and execution are now much more refined and have been digitally upgraded with a super-human team from Craft’d Events producing them.
Craft’d Events CEO Sue Duncan says that when she purchased the festival in 2017, one of her long-term goals was to bring the festival to Wellington. That goal has now been accomplished with the Welly Boutique Wine Festival included in the line-up for Visa Wellington On A Plate 2021, which is held throughout August.
Both the Wellington and Auckland wine festivals will have over 20 wine producers and each of those wineries will have at least 4 wines to taste. Attendees can spend relaxed afternoons listening to live tunes while discovering some hidden gems from New Zealand’s famous wine regions. All matched with locally inspired tapas platters that complement our unique Kiwi wine styles.
