New Zealand MICHELIN Guide 2026 Results

The MICHELIN Guide New Zealand 2026 results are here, marking the first-ever MICHELIN awards in Oceania.
Tonight, 300 chefs, restaurateurs, industry figures and media, dressed in their cocktail best, gathered at the New Zealand International Convention Centre for one of the most anticipated nights in local hospitality history.
The selection spans Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown, following nearly a year of inspections and marking the furthest the Guide has ever travelled.
In the lead-up, speculation has been rife, with chefs, restaurateurs and diners swapping predictions, placing bets and taking stabs at who might be in the running. Was a fork quietly dropped beneath a table, à la Burnt, a Michelin myth later echoed in The Bear when Richie clocks the same clue? Was an anonymous inspector sitting unnoticed in the room long before anyone realised? Did one detail change everything?
For anyone who has watched Michelin mythology play out on screen, from Bradley Cooper’s Adam Jones and his feverish pursuit of a third star in Burnt to Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy and his haunting memories of Michelin-level perfection in The Bear, the stakes are familiar. As our Art Director, Chrisanne Terblanche, put it in the dish office earlier: “This is our World Cup.”
Here, the inaugural MICHELIN Guide New Zealand selection, and the restaurants, chefs and exceptional teams now part of a new chapter for New Zealand hospitality.

In Dream Escape, we journey from Japan and Morocco to Italy, India and beyond, sharing recipes inspired by travel, heritage and comfort. We celebrate the champions of the Outstanding Food Producer Awards, explore the stories and recipes of chefs shaped by their cultural roots, and warm up with everything from West African soups and slow-braised lamb to porchetta, butter chicken and beef noodle soup. Alongside destination menus, Scandinavian sweets and cosy pub classics, Chrisanne Terblanche shares her favourite street-side dining spots in Bangkok, while Yvonne Lorkin explores red wine varietals. This issue, we invite you to slow down, turn the pages and escape through food.
