Easter Treats Sorted with Farro

As with any holiday that centres around family feasts and indulgent treats, a visit to Farro is all you need to make the Easter weekend totally delicious. You’ll find the best-quality grass-fed lamb for the requisite roast, lush autumn produce, and – most crucially – a truly egg-ceptional range of Easter chocolate, with edible gifts to suit all palates.

For an easy crowd-pleaser, you can’t go past Farro’s exclusive collaboration with Bennetts of Mangawhai. Back with slick new packaging, this sweet selection includes chocolate bunnies big and small, and an artful egg, all crafted with Bennetts of Mangawhai’s delicious chocolate, made using sustainably sourced cocoa.

Also from Bennett’s are the classic Golden Eggs, loaded with scrumptious sea salt buttons, and their mini chocolate characters – perfect for Easter dessert platters. But the real star of the collection is their incredible giant chocolate egg, available in milk or dark chocolate and weighing in at a whopping 1.2kg.

Auckland chocolatiers House of Chocolate have also had a packaging makeover this year. Their clever confections – like ruby chocolate and pistachio eggs, or toffee caramel bon bons – come coated in pretty pastels and wrapped in gorgeous, gift-worthy boxes.

For coffee lovers, the elegant Allpress x Bennetts packs; each loaded with a mix of flat white and long black-inspired eggs. Meanwhile, kids will love the Schoc Coco Bunny, Kapiti’s chunky marshmallow eggs, and Otti & Olli’s characterful range of iced gingerbread.

For a twist on the customary eggs, we love Asian Food Republic’s hot cross bun biscotti or the loaded white chocolate rocky road from Bluebell’s Bakery. And for the not-so-sweet tooths, think outside the chocolate box…Farro shelves are loaded with great foodie gifts, from beautiful olive oils to award-winning wines, artisan hampers, and crafty condiments.

But most enticing of all might be this year’s a-bun-dant hot cross bun range. Farro’s staple trio – traditional, chocolate, and par-baked – are back for 2024 with new, improved recipes and colourful new labels. You’ll find fan-favourite Clareville Bakery, as well as impressive newcomer Lucy’s Gluten Free, plus – hot off a hattrick win of the coveted ‘NZ’s Best Hot Cross Bun’ award – is Daily Bread’s traditional bun, paired this year with a delicious Farro collab: Spiced Apple.

Farro have seven stores Auckland-wide, including their new opening in Smales Farm or, for an even easier Easter, shop online at farro.co.nz.
