Global dining event comes to NZ

The global pop-up feast phenomenon known as Dîner en Blanc will come to a mystery Auckland location in March.
The first Dîner en Blanc was held in Paris in 1988 and is now held annually in more than 40 cities around the world. Its purpose is to bring like-minded diners together for a night of fine food in one of their city's most beautiful locations. What sets the event apart from other pop-up events is that guests must dress entirely in white and bring their own table, chairs, food, china and stemware.
Event organisers Vinny Sherry and Anna Hood attended the event in Sydney and will this year bring Dîner en Blanc to Auckland on March 15th. With space for 800 guests, attendance is by invitation only and will take place in three stages including an initial list, nomination by another guest, and signing up to the waiting list.
On the night, guests will meet at a variety of collection points throughout the city for transportation to the dinner, the location of which they will only discover on arrival. As is traditional at each Dîner en Blanc event around the world, the diners eat with a backdrop of white balloons and live music; the waving of white cloth napkins signals the beginning of the meal, followed by the lighting of sparklers to indicate guests can start to mingle and dance. Previous dinners have been held in the Place de la Concorde in Paris and on Sydney's Bondi Beach.
Space on the waiting list for Dîner en Blanc in Auckland is limited, the sign up is available at auckland.dinerenblanc.info
