Halo Top Ice Cream hits our shores
It's taken the world by storm and now Halo Top's low calorie ice cream is here...
With a cult following from celebrities to foodies to heath gurus, it’s safe to say American ice cream brand Halo Top has taken the world by storm. For years it’s been available in the US, UK, Canada and Australia and now the low calorie ice cream can finally be purchased in New Zealand. But what’s all the fuss about? The ice cream rose to fame for its decadent taste while only using 280-360 calories per tub and became known as the healthy alternative to full calorie ice cream.
Based in Los Angeles, the company was founded in 2011 by lawyer turned ice cream maker Justin Woolverton, who started testing out blends with an ice cream maker in his kitchen. He took his blend of light ice cream to market in 2011 and the brand immediately took off - by 2017 it was named one of Time magazine’s 25 Best Inventions of the year.
But it’s the public who have really driven the success with Halo Top becoming the number one best-selling pint of ice-cream in the US that same year. Launching six flavours in New Zealand; chocolate, peanut butter cup, chocolate chip cookie dough, candy bar, sea salt caramel and birthday cake, there is sure to something to satisfy every palate making it the perfect treat, without the guilt.
Available at Countdown, Pak’nSave and New World stores, nationwide.
