Kaibosh is a brilliant food rescue organisation – they're kicking off Make a Meal in May, which is a great way to get behind their work.
Kaibosh is a Wellington-based organisation which rescues quality food that would otherwise have gone to waste and gives it to people in need. Since they began in 2008, volunteers have rescued more thn 475 tonnes of food and turned it into 1.3 million meals.
May marks the start of their annual fundraising effort, Make a Meal in May. This month they're asking supporters to make a meal for their friends, family or collegues and donate the money they would have spent on a meal out, to Kaibosh.
Kaibosh's General Manager Matt Dagger says people often ask how they can help out Kaibosh, and that during May he's "happy to say that it’s as simple as getting your friends together for a meal” .
Make a Meal in May can take place with a small group, as well as workplaces and schools and could range from a shared morning tea to an elaborate dinner or relaxed weekend brunch.
Wellington businesses are also joining in, with House of Dumplings donating $1 from every meal pack sold at their Taranaki Street shop from the 2nd to the 7th of May. La Boca Loca is also running a competition to win a beautiful Mexican meal for four – you can enter the competition on Kaibosh’s website.
The appeal runs throughout May – visit Kaibosh's website for more information about the organisation and donating.
