Stoneleigh Garden Bar set to pop-up at the Auckland Volvo Ocean Race Stopover
The Volvo Ocean Race is the world's longest sporting event, spanning 9 months and 11 international ports. Enjoy the Auckland stopover festival this February - March at Stoneleigh's pop up garden bar.
A summer of festivities continue in Auckland between February 27th - March 15th with the return of the Volvo Ocean Race village at Te Wero Island. It last popped-up in 2012 with a programme of entertainment and events to mark the Auckland stopover of the world's longest sporting event - the Volvo Ocean Race.
This year's Auckland stopover will mark the end of leg 4 of the race from Sanya, China, and the start of leg 5, which will lead the fleet to traverse some of the world's most hostile seas to land in Itajai, Brazil.
To celebrate, Stoneleigh Latitude wines will be available to enjoy alongside gourmet creations from Nic Watt's Japanese eatery, Masu, at a pop up al-fresco garden bar in the centre of the race village.
The wines that will be on offer herald from Marlborough's 'Golden Mile', capturing the essence of New Zealand's most acclaimed winemaking region. The vines at Stoneleigh's vineyards are planted amongst the stones left by an ancient riverbed, which radiate warmth that is absorbed by the fruit to produce fresh, clean and vibrant flavours.
An official Port Sponsor of the Auckland stopover, the Stoneleigh pop-up bar will be open from 11.30am-10.00pm throughout the festival (Friday 27th February - Sunday 15th March).
