Tomorrow's Brunch – Welcome Eatery, Grafton
Decadent breakfasts and seasonal lunch dishes packed with lush flavours – we finally made our way to Welcome Eatery and we're very glad we did.
Welcome Eatery is one of those cafe's that's been lingering on our "to try'" list for far too long. We first got a bite of their menu during the pop-up breakfast event Supreme Popped Culture where they torched some incredibly delicious toast in front of our eyes.
This event inspired a permanent item – two poached eggs torched with provolone, white bean masala, served on The Midnight Baker's freedom loaf and topped with beetroot salt. Other breakfast options include whiskey and honey-cured salmon, on soda bread with black pepper crème fraiche, pickles and a boiled egg, and sweet items which are just as tempting. Their dairy-free rice porridge is full of nutty crunch and topped with caramelised pears while their decadent Cacao Toast (our pick) with fresh bites of fresh and freeze-dried mandarin, hazelnuts and beetroot whipped mascarpone would be almost too pretty to eat, if it wasn't so delicious. While these flavour-packed dishes feel suited to a leisurely Sunday brunch, Welcome Eatery isn't open on weekends, which makes a bit of weekday indulgence perfectly excusable.
