In the heart of downtown Auckland, The Hotel Britomart has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the city’s most stylish stays. Sustainable, chic, convenient and closely tied to the openings, launches and cultural moments that shape Auckland’s social calendar. This approach has earned the hotel a fresh round of international recognition.
The Hotel Britomart has been named number one hotel in Aotearoa and sixth in the South Pacific in the latest Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. The ranking marks the second time The Hotel Britomart has taken the top national spot on Tripadvisor, following its previous number one placing in the 2023 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards.

This accolade follows another significant milestone for the, which last year was named one of only three hotels in the country to receive a Michelin Key. For The Hotel Britomart, the latest Tripadvisor recognition is especially meaningful as it’s shaped by guest reviews and ratings, rather than an industry judging panel.
“This one really means a lot to us because it comes directly from our guests and their experiences with our team,” General Manager Clinton Farley says.
“What we’re focused on creating isn’t just a stay, it’s a journey of unique, personalised experiences, even if it’s only for a short time with us. Every interaction is a chance to deliver something exceptional. A big part of that is how we help tell the story of this place — connecting guests to our culture, our country, our neighbourhood, our people, and the purpose behind what we do. That’s where the experience really comes to life. This recognition is a real credit to our team and the tremendous effort they put in every day. They genuinely care, they bring their best self to work, and they take pride in creating exceptional moments that our guests remember long after they leave.”

Since opening in October 2020, The Hotel Britomart has become a defining part of Britomart. Set within the nine-block waterfront precinct, the hotel brings together architecture, sustainability and a distinctly local approach to each and every detail. Designed by Cheshire Architects, the hotel has 99 guest rooms and five Landing Suites, offering a quiet counterpoint to the energy of the surrounding laneways, restaurants and boutiques.

The Hotel Britomart’s success sits in the details: the restraint, the connection to place and the sense of manaakitanga woven through each experience. For travellers, it offers a considered introduction to the city’s favourite neighbourhood and, as the country’s first 5 Green Star hotel, a reminder that sustainability and luxury can and should go hand in hand.
