Waiheke Walking Festival Returns with Exclusive Olive Grove Trail
The Waiheke Walking Festival is back with exciting new walks for 2022 including the fabulous Allpress Olive Groves Walk.
Get your Waiheke walk on! The Waiheke Walking Festival returns next month with 11 days of walking events to suit all abilities and ages from keen hikers tackling the five-day Te Ara Hura track to child-friendly explorers, those who like to wander and refuel along the way and even walks you can bring your four-legged buddy on.
A fabulous walk this year is the Allpress Olive Groves Walk presented by Allpress Olive Groves on Thursday, 17th November. The three-hour walking event is for lovers of olives and olive oil.
Join passionate olive grower Anne Stanimiroff as she takes you on a hike through the private olive groves of Onetangi Valley. The 4.5km walk will include a pruning demonstration and planting advice and will finish with Allpress Olive Groves hosting walkers at Rangihoua Mill with a tour and tasting of their three delicious and award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oils; Rangihoua Estate, number29 and Allpress.
“We’re committed to investing in Waiheke Island as a world class extra virgin olive oil producer and destination,” says Michael Allpress, Founder Allpress Olive Groves. “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Allpress Olive Groves Walk and we’re looking forward to welcoming walkers to our interim Tastings Room and Store at Rangihoua Mill.
“The Waiheke Walking Festival is a highlight in many peoples' calendars from all over Aotearoa and we think it’s a perfect opportunity to share our passion for olives, the beauty and abundance of the land and spending time together while boosting our mental and physical health.”
Dubbed the world’s friendliest walking festival, friendship, laughter and being in ‘awe’ as you appreciate and spend time in nature on one of the world’s most beautiful islands is at the heart of the festival.
The exciting 2022 programme offers walking events incorporating mindfulness, photography, conservation, fitness, opportunities to walk on private land, silent discos and many are family friendly. Some walks end up at Waiheke’s stunning venues and vineyards to allow participants to enjoy the local food and wine on offer.
The festival is supported by sponsors and patrons, which means many of the walks are offered at no or little cost to participants. Some walks have food, drink and bus costs
