Christmas D.I.Ys: Plate Party
Photography by Rose Hope and Manja Wachsmuth .

In our latest issue, Rose and Sarah of crushes.co.nz share their festive decorating tips. Here's their step-by-step guide to up-cycling crockery for any celebration.
You will need:
- Plates/Bowls/Cups - anything you wanna spruce up!
- Ceramic Marker
- Ruler
- Pencil or chalk pen
Simply decorate the edge of a plain plate, cup or saucer to instantly update. To ensure the lines are where you want them, use a chalkboard pen and a ruler to measure guidelines before commiting with the ceramic pen.

Sarah then chose a couple of designs and drew away – the cool thing was that the pen took a little while to become permanent, so she was able to erase anything that she didn’t like before it became permanent.

Sarah used the same theme on each plate, but with slight alterations on each piece of crockery to give a mix and match feel.

While we were in the drawing frenzy, we also simply replanted this succulent into a jar and wrote a festive phrase on it - once you have the pens, the options are endless really!
