How to create the perfect antipasto platter with Always Fresh
Ready to up your platter game? The Always Fresh team loves creating antipasto platters.
They are simple and easy to create and look beautiful when presented as a centre piece on a table. Customisable to your own liking, there are a few things to keep in mind when creating your antipasto platter. Below are a few tips to create a crowd-pleasing platter!
Antipasto platters are all about combining different flavours and textures – ideally what works best is when you provide an assortment of salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami (savoury).
Meats
Saucisson, salami, chorizo & prosciutto are delicious and tasty cured meats that work really well on an antipasto platter.
Select a mild or truffled salami to provide some ‘extra’ added flavour.
Cheeses
Ideally mixing different varieties of cheeses provides an array of flavours and textures. Whether it’s soft or hard cheeses (or both), it is totally up to you to select what you think you and your guests will enjoy the most. Vintage cheddar, blue cheese, camembert, feta and double brie are all delicious varieties.
Crackers
One cannot have an antipasto platter without a good selection of crackers. Try the Always Fresh mini toasts – bite size and perfect with any sweet or savoury topping.
Pickled Vegetables
The pickled vegetables on your platter will act as a palate cleanser between the variety of different meats and cheeses. Always Fresh’s selection perfectly complement any platter. Select from a range of Tomato Strips, Fire Roasted Mixed Peppers, Olives or Grilled Zucchini.
Sweetness
A little goes a long way. We suggest you add elements of sweetness to your platter by including fruits (dried or fresh) such as cantaloupe, apricots, figs, dates or even quince paste. They all will pair beautifully with your cheeses, meats and pickled vegetables.
Now it’s time to put everything together!
Start with a large style serving piece – we like large round wooden boards for their versatility as well as their great look, however it’s totally up to you.
Anchor the platter with smaller serving dishes and bowls for ingredients that can’t be placed straight onto the platter such as the pickled vegetables. Surround the rest of the platter with your selection of cheeses, mini toast and / or fresh bread. Place the meats and fill in empty spaces with dried fruits and nuts. Enjoy and share the good life with Always Fresh!
