Drop of the Day - Mission Fête Sparkling
Summer is on the way which means it’s bubbles season!
Mission Fête Sparkling
If you are looking for the perfect summertime bubbles, then Mission’s Fête sparkling wine is the one for you. It’s a delicious and refreshing, crisp sparkling wine with crunchy apple, lemon and pear notes. Delish!
If you feel like jazzing things up for even more summer sparkle vibes – just add a splash of bitters for a lip-smacking, sophisticated cocktail. It’s not called Fête for nothing! Fête means ‘party’ in French and they really know how to! Oh là là!
Mission released the first bottle-fermented sparkling wine in New Zealand in 1963 and Fête follows in its footsteps as a top-quality fizz made from hand-harvested fruit. Yes, you read that correctly – each berry is hand-harvested!
Michael Cooper, New Zealand’s top wine writer agrees it’s a good drop too, rating it 4/5 stars which also makes it a bargain. Mission’s Fête sparkling wine really is a party of its own, not to be missed!
Shellfish are a fantastic accompaniment to sparkling wine, and with summer just around the corner, our Grilled Butterflied Prawns are a perfect one-two-punch of flavour with Mission’s Fête sparkling wine.
Sparkling wine also pairs remarkably well with salty cheeses but if you’re craving more than a simple platter, you’ll make quick friends with our Goat’s Cheese, Sticky Walnut and Caramelised Onion Tarts.
Mission Estate is a multi-award-winning Hawke’s Bay winery and iconic New Zealand landmark. 2021 marks 170 years of heritage, truly defining Mission as a pioneer of the New Zealand wine industry with a heritage like no other.
Mission continues to evolve in its viticulture and winemaking while staying true to its French roots. Forging a path for environmentally friendly and sustainable practices has always been at the forefront of Mission’s ideology.
Paul Mooney, winemaker of 41 years says, “In 1998, Mission was one of the first wineries in New Zealand to achieve ISO 14001 certification, an international environmental management system which recognises our ongoing commitment to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices.”
He adds, “In 2007 our winery underwent a multi-million-dollar upgrade which was designed to maximise energy efficiency. Further to that, over the last ten years we have introduced advanced science and technology in the winery allowing us to make some of New Zealand’s finest wines in the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly manner. We’re also transitioning vineyards to organic with some already certified BioGro.”
Mission is committed to protecting the environment by reducing the use of chemicals, energy, water and packaging, and wherever possible reusing and recycling materials and waste.
