Like no other

Exceptional wines with outstanding heritage.
With classic French roots, an exceptional range of wines for every occasion and an enduring commitment to quality, Mission Estate is a New Zealand icon.
In 1838, a group of French missionaries bravely set sail for New Zealand, bringing with them a precious cargo of a few carefully selected vines. Once established in Hawke's Bay, they planted vineyards and Mission Estate was born.
Initially, Mission Estate produced sacramental and table wine with quality paramount right from the beginning. When a selection of wines was sent to the 1889 Paris Exhibition, New Zealand won its first international wine medal, along with high praise from French connoisseurs. It’s a tradition of quality, inspiration and pioneering spirit that’s been going ever since.
Mission Estate is more than just a winery, it’s a part of New Zealand’s history. A landmark in the Hawke’s Bay for over 170 years, it’s survived everything from floods to earthquakes. As New Zealand’s oldest winery, with a heritage like no other, when you sip a Mission Estate wine, you’re sipping on history.
Over the years, the winery has remained a pioneer. In 1995, it became a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. Then in 1998, it was one of the country's first wineries to achieve the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
One of New Zealand's best winery restaurants, Mission Restaurant is located at Mission Estate. A gorgeous seasonal menu and world-class Mission wines are served in a stunning vineyard location, so you can enjoy sweeping views of Napier and the coast beyond while dining like royalty.
Mission Estate’s award-winning wines are perfect for those seeking style and craftsmanship in every drop. The expert team, led since 1979 by experienced winemaker Paul Mooney, creates wines that draw on a long heritage of French-influenced winemaking and sing with sophistication. Elegant and delicious, Mission Estate wines are worth savouring; perfect for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
