Six delicious reasons to visit The Grounds Modern Family Eatery
Hit the North Western motorway this summer and you'll discover a unique dining destination that ticks all of our boxes...
Catering for the whole family can be a challenge at the best of times, but particularly when the silly season rolls around.
If dining out tickles your fancy, you'll be thrilled to learn that The Grounds Modern Family Eatery – brainchild of chef Ben Bayly (The Grove and Baduzzi) – is a modern family eatery that ensures your entire brood will be fed, entertained and utterly impressed with the plentiful offerings.
Here are six legitimate reasons why The Grounds deserves to be high on your destination dining list this summer.
1. The private dining offerings make for the perfect summer soiree
Finding the perfect venue for an intimate gathering is no easy feat, so we were delighted to learn that The Grounds offer a unique outdoor private dining experience. Housed between the restaurant and the playground will be The Stage – an oasis away from the craziness – surrounded with lush plants and shady umbrellas. Boasting quite possibly the best seat in the house, The Stage can be booked out, subject to minimum spend.
2. There's not a deep-fried fish finger or greasy pizza in sight
Now entering its second summer, executive chef Ben Bayly has spent some serious man-hours ensuring there is plenty for the pint-sized foodies to choose from. The Grounds offer an impressive Kids' Menu which offers everything from Dumplings with Light Soy and Ginger Sauce to Warm Teriyaki Chicken with Steamed Rice, as well as Banquet Menu to feed larger parties.
3. There will be sizzling hot street food
Big Dawgs hotdog stand is brand new to The Grounds this summer. Check out the outdoor kiosk and grab a hand-made dawg with all the trimmings – perfect if you’re after a quick, casual bite at street food prices. These Chicago and Danish-style dawgs go down particularly al fresco, with a refreshing craft beer in hand.
4. The kids will be truly 'wowed' come birthday party season.
The Mezzanine area can now be set up as a truly unique kids' birthday space. With a chalkboard spanning the width of the wall, The Mezzanine can be tailored to suit your celebration, dressed and decorated to "wow" the lucky birthday boy or girl. What's more? Parents will be blown away by the adult menu that rivals the very best of your favourite inner-city bistro.
5. Say "Whoa!" to one of the coolest entertainment spaces in Auckland.
Alongside shows for the kids and The Urban Playground, this summer will also offer inflatable entertainment, including an assault course and a giant waterslide. There will be more activities than ever for the whole family to enjoy.
6. You don't need to brave the inner-city traffic for a seriously impressive date night.
The Grounds is a premium dining experience for the modern family, boasting an inspired craft beer and wine list alongside a seasonal menu that ultilises only the freshest ingredients. This beautiful space is the perfect place to unite family, friends or colleagues, over beautiful food and wine.
