Oolong-Infused Bourbon
Photography by Sarah Scarborough.
Tea-infused spirits offer the ultimate medium for creative expression. With so many teas, spirits and additional, complementary flavours available – the possibilities are endless.
Serves: 4–6
INGREDIENTS
230 grams of good-quality bourbon
1 tablespoon of Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong tea leaves
half a vanilla bean, scraped
a few thick scrapes of orange peel
This recipe is one I have really enjoyed lately, particularly when creating my Oolong-Infused Bourbon Balls. This beautiful blend also makes a classic cocktail a lot more interesting!
METHOD
Source a small to medium mason jar and add your bourbon.
Add the scraped vanilla bean, heaped tablespoon of tea leaves, and orange peel. Seal your jar and steep for 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how strong you'd like your blend to taste.
Strain your bourbon mixture and transfer to a clean jar to store.
Note: This delicious winter-infused bourbon makes for a great base for any spicy winter cocktail.
