Strawberries in red wine syrup

INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup caster sugar
100 ml red wine
1/3 cup orange juice
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cinnamon stick
1 punnet of strawberries, hulled and chopped
METHOD
Put the sugar, red wine, orange juice, vanilla extract and the cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar, and simmer for 3 minutes. Add the strawberries and simmer for 10 minutes. Cool. Remove the cinnamon stick and tip the sauce into a food processor and blend until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and stir through the fresh strawberries
