Tohu SV Whenua Matua Albariño 2021 and our Seafood Paella
Wine: The Albariño grape originates from the Northwest of Spain. This Champion Aromatic wine is a stunning example from the Whenua Matua vineyard in sunny Nelson. Lively & fresh with bright citrus, florals, and a hint of beeswax. Delicious as an aperitif.
Recipe: Paella is the perfect one-pan barbecue dish, although it can also be prepared on the stovetop. This simple version is packed with seafood, all you need to accompany it is a sprinkling of parsley, a few wedges of lemon and some good crusty bread – it’s the ideal summer seafood dish!

Church Road has been awarded Champion Chardonnay on numerous occasions including this year! This is a powerful wine with a lovely oak lift and delicious stonefruit flavours. Impressive with a classic feel and a modern touch. Fantastic with roast chicken.

Thornbury Waipara Pinot Gris 2024 and our Sticky Five Spice Chicken Thighs
Wine: The Champion Pinot Gris from Waipara is very attractive with a wonderful depth of flavour and a perfect touch of sweetness. Aromas of poached pear, white blossom and jasmine complement a richly textured palate with a long finish. A fabulous wine for roast pork with all the trimmings.
Recipe: An easy to pop together dish with Asian-inspired flavours.
Luna Estate Pinot Noir 2022 and our Miso Chicken, Edamame Bean and Soba Noodle Salad
Wine: This Champion Pinot Noir comes from the well-established Eclipse and Blue Rock vineyards in Martinborough. Winemaker Joel Watson demonstrates his talent with back-to-back vintages in the Top 50. This fine and spicy wine is tremendous value for money. Captivating and savoury, with mushroom, baking spice, cherry, and plum. Enjoy with five-spice venison or tender pork loin.
Recipe: This salad is full of punchy flavours and textures. If you would like a gluten-free salad, use 100 per cent buckwheat noodles. Thick slices of firm tofu can be used in place of the chicken for a vegetarian option.

Wine: Yalumba, Australia's oldest family-owned winery has been mastering this blend for 100+ years. Matured in oak barrels at Yalumba, this Champion Red Blend combines Shiraz's generosity with Cabernet Sauvignon's elegance. Richly fruited, intensely aromatic, elegantly structured and extremely delicious! Enjoyable today and also with age. Serve with roast lamb or slow-cooked beef cheek.
Recipe: These light and tasty meatballs are fragrant with oregano and fennel seeds, bathed in a rich tomato sauce and topped with molten mozzarella. Autumn fare done and dusted.
Te Kano Life Rosé 2023 and our Mexican Fish Tacos with Avocado and Jalapeño Sauce
Wine: A pale peachy salmon colour with an elegant nose of rose petals, peach, strawberry and crushed seashell. The palate is mouth-filling with fresh acidity and a lingering finish. Enjoy with chicken tacos or watermelon and feta salad.
Recipe: Tacos are always a hit, and this delicious avocado sauce pulls everything together. It can also be served with taco chips as a fabulous dip.

Wine: The Champion Sauvignon Blanc was also in the Top 50 last year, showing admirable consistency. This Awatere Valley beauty benefits from the fresh Pacific breezes. Judges admired the energy of this wine, noting vibrant fruit and pleasing salinity. Delicious aromas of blackcurrant, gooseberry and melon. A versatile food wine - try with grilled prawns, salmon or salads with fresh herbs.

Church Road Syrah 2021 and our Baked Eggplant with Warm Chickpeas and Yoghurt
Wine: The Champion from Church Road with their new label and recognisable high quality. A tremendous crowd-pleasing Syrah that is full-bodied and full of joy! Dark ripe fruit with captivating florals and a weighty palate that is rich and long with mouthcoating tannins. This is a highly versatile wine to enjoy with Sunday roasts, barbeques and camping adventures.
Recipe: While the eggplants do take time in the oven, once they’re in, it only takes a few minutes to add the final touches for a flavour-packed meal.
Trapiche Pure Black Malbec 2022 and our Slow-cooked Italian Beef Cheek Ragù Pappardelle
Wine: Trapiche, the renowned Argentinian winery, was established in 1883. The notoriously tannic Malbec grape is originally from France, but today it thrives in Argentina. Trapiche ‘Pure’ wines are aged in concrete tanks, highlighting their fruit intensity and opulent texture. Bold yet drinkable with juicy sweet fruit, silky tannins and fresh acidity. A winner two years in a row!
Recipe: Let us introduce you to a meltingly tender, slow-cooked beef cheek ragù. Serve with just-cooked pappardelle and sprinkle with lashings of parmesan.
